Teaching Physics 3 again in the spring!

  • How to make physics 3 an AI course ?
    • Make the students use AI.. then use the AI summaries of the interactions as grades?
  • PS: After discussion with Rachel decided I would do Physics of Energy after all.

Add for UG in Agentic AI

Undergraduate Research Assistant — AI Agents for Scientific Computing

The CMU Experimental High Energy Physics group is looking for an undergraduate physics major to help build and deploy AI agent workflows for particle physics research. The role centers on two complementary agentic platforms — Claude Code (Anthropic's terminal-native agentic CLI) and OpenClaw (the leading open-source personal AI agent) — designing skills and multi-agent pipelines that automate real scientific tasks. This is not a "learn Python" position — we're looking for someone who already has or is actively developing fluency with agentic AI systems and wants to apply that at the frontier of scientific computing.

You'll work directly with Prof. John Alison on a live research stack running on dedicated CMU computing clusters. The ideal candidate is curious about how AI agents can accelerate experimental physics, comfortable in the terminal, and eager to get hands dirty with real pipelines rather than toy examples. Prior experience with Claude Code, OpenClaw, LLM tool use, or building agent workflows is a strong plus. Interest in high energy physics is helpful but not required — excitement about using AI to do real science is what matters.
