CMU HGC Mac Meeting 28 July 2026

Had to miss the meeting…Note from Valentina

Notes: CMU HGC MAC meeting, Tue July 28, 2026

News

  • 1000 hexaboards due, have been shipped
  • Jessica started slides for tomorrow’s meeting
    • particulate counts (stabilized now)
    • translucent dummy modules allows to see effect of module touching
  • Module grabbers broke (seems to be weak point in the legs)
    • Jessica sent around CAD file, Jim will look into improving design before we order more

Jessica:

  • tried to take manual counts with hand-held particulate counter, battery not charging (to be replaced)
  • can get cheap particulate counter for $150, might be worth getting that as well as battery
  • Texas Tech reported they love our camera and fiducial measurement setup

Jim

  • replaced block under the MMTS

Ashley

  • worked on MMTS testing

Inna

  • worked on MMTS, pedestal tests
  • power supply for multiplexer - got package ordered last week
  • need ring terminals —> will order kit
  • did inventory of thermal cycled (or not) modules with Brennan
  • some modules missing from spreadsheet, will be added

Brennan

  • inventory of thermal cycled modules (to be updated)
  • Christian will look into making sure information about thermal cycling is accurately captured in database

Jacques

  • still setting up shipping box, Carter will help
  • got a portion of the foam order
  • will help with MMTS stuff moving forward
  • will work on more in-depth encapsulation practice for Shrinidhi and Inna
  • will update encapsulation documentation

Cooper

  • last day on Friday
  • worked on MMTS loading and testing

Pritam

  • continuing to work on issue with chiller script (see Christian’s slides for details)
  • putting in orders for thermal sensors, switches, indicator light

Carter

  • helped out with MMTS
  • working on getting PLC sensor data monitoring into main Grafana with Sindhu’s help

Shrinidhi

  • MMTS work
  • Thermal cycled CuW modules over the weekend
  • Pedestal tested them yesterday, also some of the Ti modules that were put in the MMTS yesterday

Christian

  • see slides sent around
  • main issue right now is with chiller set point issues (gets automatically set to -5 or 4C when not thermal cycling; when set point manually set to 20 C internal temperature kept going up to 38C)
  • stopped thermal cycling for now
  • a bunch of the Ti modules that were in MMTS yesterday appear to have early breakdown / high current / both, being investigated … need to correlate with tests from before thermal cycling and module histories

Sindhu

  • points out we should be listing individual operators for testing steps
  • will include thermal cycle date in module info table
  • will bring up MMTS GUI issues tomorrow
