Modules Summary June 2026
CMU has finished grading the run of 100 LD CuW/200um modules: 90% grade A or B. The 10% which are grade C, where driven by readout noise/dead channels, only a couple with bad IVs. Mechanical and electrical performance looks good. The main development this month is that the MMTS is now operational — the dew point blocker from last month is resolved, reaching about −40°C at room temperature and −48°C after cooling. We have begun thermal cycling: a first set of 24 modules has been cycled (cooling to −35°C and back), with three modules broken during cycling, and a second set of 24 is now in testing. We are also ready to resume assembly when the baseplates become availble.
UCSB has continued steady production, assembling modules every day this past month with several 16-module days, and the assembly accuracy remains well within tolerance. The MMTS is now in routine use, running multiple full loads per week; UCSB has dropped the separate post-encapsulation test and now takes the MMTS first IV as the initial module test. Across HD full CuW, HD full Ti, and Ti partials, the thermal cycling and cold IV results look good, with only a single Ti module failing IV at cold. So far ~95% of produced modules are installable. 57 modules (24 MLT3TD, 33 MLB3TD) are shipping to FNAL this week. The near-term limits are hexaboard supply — 18 of 80 Micropack LD Top boards were excluded for bonding issues — and waiting on baseplates for the upcoming run of 230 HD fulls.
