Sindhu Murthy Annual Review 2026
Student: Sindhu Murthy Date: Feb 20th 2026 Members present: John Alison / Hy Track / Matteo Cremonesi / Manfred Paulini Title of current research: Seach for X->HH->4b with the CMS detector
Summary of Progress Since last review: Sindhu has prototyped her analysis with data taken in an earlier running period 2016-2018. She has developed a detailed data-driven background model for the large QCD multijet background and has adapted a technique for assessing systematic uncertainties. She has since turned her attention to data taken in the more recent data-taking period (2022-2024). This dataset will serve as the basis for her thesis.
In addition to analysis work she has developed a database system that has proven invaluable to the High-Granularity Calorimeter module assembly centers. She has been recognized within the collaboration with an award for this work.
Summary of research plan and recommendations of the committee The committee notes a marked improvement in the presentation of her research progress and analysis since the last annual review. The committee recommends that she try to prioritize her thesis analysis over the database work going forward. We understand there is pressure to keep up with DB work, but it would be good to start giving priority to analysis wherever possible.
Expected graduation date: Fall 2027
