The Fundamental Asymmetry in Nature: Heat vs Work

We can convert mechanical work into heat and heat into work. However, the two conversions are not equal. The conversion of heat to work is taxed (via the 2nd law), whereas the conversion of work is not; frictional losses pay no entropy toll.
