Thoughts on Seth

Staff committee Fall of 2019

  • Fall of 2019 (reminder that this is right before covid)
  • Committee strategy for three sudden, unanticipated losses of staff.
  • Had s Short-term plan aimed at "Keeping the Wheels From Falling Off".
  • Key was Chuck replacement: for 50 years.
  • I was worried we couldn’t pull it off.
  • Needed to hire someone as effective as Chuck w/only few weeks to learn Chuck had accumulated over 50 years. (+ COVID)

In the end …. our plan worked!

  • Seth was the reason it did.
  • Direct result his hard work, openmindeness, and common sense.
  • not exaggeration to say without Seth we would have literaly been decades behind where we are now!

Our lab.

  • Builing detectors and are a Seth power-user
  • tremendous amount of international shipping
    • complicated constraints
    • bad enough with out constantly changing tarriffs.
  • Over $2M of parts.
  • Seth has taken this major concern off of our plate. deals with requests that are often unusual and not part of his job description.

We didnt get to have Seth for 50 years, — lucky to have him for 6 years – but he will leave what will feel like a 50 year hole

Thank you Seth, for all that you've done.
