Thoughts about Hiring in Physics

• 1) does the physcis pass the smell test? Is it plausibly physics ? / Is there a group of experts that think this is worth doing?

• 2) What are the benifits to our depeartment ? -) Tools / Datasets / Infrastructure / Money

  The niave question, "Do I (me personally) think this is interesting" is sharp a focus. This is an argument for me not doing that bit of physics, not me supporting the department to do it.
