TB: Context Matters

The same fact, idea, or event means something different depending on the surrounding context. Discovery, understanding, and interpretation are not properties of isolated pieces of information — they are properties of information in relation to a framework.

Context is the silent variable in almost all thinking. The reason "time is right" for an idea is that the cultural and intellectual context has loaded the necessary preconditions. Serendipity works by colliding contexts. This also explains why generalists often out-innovate specialists: wider context creates more collision surfaces.

• Leadership ↔ agentic AI: "providing context" (Commander's Intent in Leadership and Teams) and the human-as-orchestrator role in Agentic AI Systems are the same structural move. The subordinate — human or model — needs the WHY to make local decisions cohere; without it execution drifts off-mission. Context-matters explains why the move works: the WHY is the framework that makes downstream judgment meaningful, and the same insight crosses cleanly between two otherwise unrelated domains.
